Edible Belmont Map Launch!

Edible Belmont is a new effort to catalogue and acknowledge all the various community food projects in an around our neighborhood with the goal of recognizing or creating a shared food resource within a block of every resident.  We've created a map with the resources we currently know of, but there are others I'm sure.  Check it out here.

New Orchards!

We're excited to announce a few new partnership this spring, the first of which with ALAW, a local organization putting Philadelphians with autism in permanent supportive housing.  They're building a new facility for young adults in our neighborhood and have agreed to install a fruit orchard as part of the landscaping plan.  Our friends at the Philadelphia Orchard Project are going to help with installation, and then Preston's Paradise will be working with the residents to maintain and harvest the fruit.  A community vegetable garden is also in the works!

Howdy, partner

We're excited to welcome the Sloan Street Community Garden into the Preston's Paradise network this spring.  We got a small grant to combine some of our labor to offer food from both gardens at our mobile Farm Stand and possibly at a new market in the West Powelton neighborhood.  We'll also be helping Sloan Street rebuild some of their garden beds and install a new rainwater catchment system!

We're also looking forward to accessing the wealth of knowledge that the Sloan Street gardeners have to expand our workshop series again this year.  Look forward to some great classes, some happening...
