Position Description
Market Manager
West Philadelphia Fresh Food Hub
The West Philadelphia Fresh Food Hub is a non-profit mobile grocery store operated by Greensgrow Philadelphia Project and Preston’s Paradise. The Fresh Food Hub brings high quality affordable food directly from area farms to urban neighborhoods, with a focus on underserved communities along the Lancaster Avenue corridor.
The Market Manager reports directly to the Project Manager, and will assist in all aspects of operating the Fresh Food Hub, including driving the market vehicle, inventory control, supervising market staff, and customer service.
Responsibilities
- Staffing the Fresh Food Hub for approximately 15 hours each week
- Supervising at least one Market Assistant
- Maintaining all inventory tracking and accounting procedures
- Driving the market vehicle to set-up locations
- Providing excellent customer service to patrons
Skills required
- Excellent communication and writing skills
- Punctual and reliable
- Computer skills, especially with Excel and social media platforms
- Drivers License and clean driving record
- Some food knowledge, including cooking, growing, or selecting fresh produce
- Ability to work Saturdays and/or early morning hours
- Experience in a supervisory role
Skills preferred
- Conflict resolution experience or training
- Residency in Mantua, Belmont, or West Powelton preferred
- High School diploma or equivalent
Compensation
$13.00 per hour to be paid bi-weekly, with an option for a raise after 3 months. Position will be eligible for unemployment compensation at the end of the season, with an option for rehire in 2013. The West Philadelphia Fresh Food Hub is an equal opportunity employer.

Market Assistant
West Philadelphia Fresh Food Hub
The West Philadelphia Fresh Food Hub is a non-profit mobile grocery store operated by Greensgrow Philadelphia Project and Preston’s Paradise. The Fresh Food Hub brings high quality affordable food directly from area farms to urban neighborhoods, with a focus on underserved communities along the Lancaster Avenue corridor.
Responsibilities
The Fresh Food Hub Market Assistant will work with the Market Manager to operate a fresh produce market on Lancaster Avenue approximately 20 hours per week from April through November. The Market Assistant will be responsible for helping with set-up and clean-up of the market vehicle each day, as well as providing customer service during open hours. Current high school students welcome to apply for afterschool hours.

- Willingness to learn new information and be able to share it with customers
- Hard-working and motivated
- Ability to interact with many different types of people
- Willingness to work outside all day
